Payroll Specialist
Job Description
Description We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support an established payroll team during two upcoming maternity leaves. This position will provide coverage through February 2027, with the potential for a longer-term opportunity depending on business needs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with foundational payroll experience who is looking to expand their exposure to weekly, in-house, multi-state payroll processing. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities
+ Support weekly in-house payroll processing with Thursday pay dates
+ Review timecards and follow up on missing or incomplete approvals
+ Assist with payroll data entry, audits, and payroll-related adjustments
+ Research and resolve payroll tickets and employee inquiries
+ Support off-cycle payrolls, including time-sensitive termination payments
+ Sort, track, and assist with payroll tax notices and related documentation
+ Gradually assume payroll processing responsibilities for assigned multi-state business units
+ Identify payroll discrepancies and proactively communicate issues to the appropriate team members
+ Maintain accurate payroll records and support compliance across multiple states Requirements + 1+ year of payroll experience preferred
+ Exposure to multi-state payroll strongly preferred; experience with 3+ states is sufficient
+ Understanding of basic payroll processes, timekeeping, deductions, and payroll adjustments
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to work within tight weekly deadlines
+ Tech-savvy with the ability to quickly learn new payroll and HR systems
+ Self-directed and comfortable asking questions, taking ownership, and proactively communicating
+ Dependable and able to commit to the full assignment through February 2027 Systems
+ SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP) used for payroll processing
+ Dayforce used for time capture and timecard approvals
+ Prior SAP ECP or Dayforce experience is a plus, but not required Schedule & Work Environment Payroll operates on a weekly cycle, making Mondays the heaviest processing day. The team may begin as early as 6:30-7:00 AM on Mondays, although a standard 8:00 AM-5:00 PM schedule is acceptable. The payroll team is highly collaborative and tight-knit, so this position is best suited for someone who enjoys being part of a team while still being able to work independently and take initiative.
