Job Description

About the Role Skyline Electric is hiring a Payroll Administrator to own the accurate, on-time processing of weekly payroll for our hourly field, salaried office, and prevailing-wage employees. You will administer the payroll/ERP system, verify time and job/cost-code data, process deductions and payroll-tax deposits, support new-hire onboarding, and maintain employee payroll records — working closely with the HR/Payroll Specialist. Success in this role looks like on-time, accurate paychecks, clean and confidential payroll records, and a payroll function the whole workforce can rely on. What You Will Do Administer the payroll/ERP system — earnings and deduction codes, pay-cycle setup, and employee records — and process payroll information including hourly rates, salaries, bonuses, time worked, paid leave, deductions, and withholdings. Review and verify time records from field and office employees, including job/cost-code allocations and prevailing-wage classifications. Process payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, garnishments, and other voluntary deductions. Prepare and submit certified-payroll reports for prevailing-wage projects and complete required job-site reporting. Issue, reissue, or correct physical and direct-deposit payments for payroll errors, terminations, or off-cycle pay. Prepare and process federal, state, and local payroll-tax deposits — including multi-state withholdings — and union benefit reporting, in coordination with the Payroll Lead. Maintain accurate, confidential employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, address changes, and pay-rate updates. Respond professionally to employee questions about pay, deductions, and payroll policies. Assist with payroll reconciliations, year-end W-2 processing, and audit support. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage-and-hour, and confidentiality requirements, staying current on legislation and regulations affecting payroll. What We Are Looking For High school diploma or equivalent (required). One (1) to three (3) years of direct payroll processing experience; additional accounting or bookkeeping experience a plus. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion. Working knowledge of payroll concepts, including taxes, deductions, and pay calculations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and the ability to learn payroll/ERP software quickly. Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve pay discrepancies. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications FPC or CPP certification, or progress toward it. Experience with construction or prevailing-wage payroll, certified-payroll reporting, and multi-state withholdings. Familiarity with ERP/construction-accounting systems such as Sage, Foundation, Vista, Spectrum, or Viewpoint. Key Skills Accuracy and attention to detail — payroll has to be right, every week. Discretion — confidential information handled with integrity. Strong organization across records, deadlines, and reporting requirements. Problem-solving — able to research and resolve pay discrepancies quickly. Professional, patient communication with employees at every level. Proficiency with Excel and payroll/ERP systems. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, calculator, and standard office equipment; occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 10 pounds, such as files and office supplies. Limited travel — primarily office-based, with occasional in-region travel for training, conferences, or company meetings.
