Job Description

Position Summary Silvertrek Systems is seeking an experienced Payroll Implementor to lead customer payroll implementations from discovery through setup, testing, training, go-live, and stabilization. This person will serve as the payroll expert on assigned projects and will be responsible for guiding customers toward accurate, sustainable payroll processes. The right candidate already understands payroll processing, payroll compliance, taxes, earnings, deductions, benefits, accruals, and the controls required to produce reliable payroll results. Experience with Trimble Viewpoint Vista is preferred but not required. Candidates without Vista experience must be comfortable learning complex software quickly and applying their payroll knowledge independently. Because payroll connects closely with accounting, operations, job costing, HR, and employee data, the Payroll Implementor must understand the broader business process, coordinate across teams, and be willing to assist with connected work when needed. The role also participates in the assigned customer support rotation. We love construction. We love payroll. Most of all, we love making people's lives easier through strong implementations so our customers can spend more time running their construction companies. What You Get $35-38 per hour starting wage (DOE), with room to grow. Two weeks of paid time off each year. A casual, collaborative work environment focused on open communication and doing the work right. After 90 days, eligibility for a retirement account with a company match of up to 4%. After 90 days, eligibility for health insurance with generous premium coverage. After one year, eligibility for profit sharing. After two years, an additional two consecutive weeks of paid vacation per year, but it comes with a catch! It's not optional, and you must take it consecutively without access to email! We call this the Intermission and it helps us strengthen our internal processes just as much as it helps you relax and unwind. Core Responsibilities 1. Payroll Implementation Leadership Lead assigned payroll implementations from kickoff through post-go-live stabilization. Own payroll discovery, requirements, configuration decisions, testing, training, readiness, and go-live execution. Provide confident payroll guidance while recognizing when a question requires additional research, technical expertise, or customer direction. Maintain project momentum by identifying risks early, communicating clearly, and following commitments through completion. 2. Payroll Setup and Validation Configure and validate earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, accruals, direct deposit, employee setup, and payroll policies. Guide setup for construction payroll requirements such as crafts, classes, prevailing wage, certified payroll, unions, job costing, equipment time, and labor reporting when applicable. Review customer decisions and source information for completeness, accuracy, and payroll impact. Document setup decisions, exceptions, dependencies, and customer-specific processes. 3. Testing and Go-Live Readiness Plan and lead payroll testing, including parallel payroll preparation and comparison. Validate payroll calculations, taxes, deductions, benefits, accruals, direct deposits, labor distribution, and posting results. Research discrepancies, determine root causes, coordinate corrections, and confirm retesting is complete. Assess payroll readiness and communicate risks that could affect the scheduled go-live date. Support initial live payrolls and guide the customer through post-go-live stabilization. 4. Training and Customer Adoption Lead payroll discovery, configuration, testing, training, go-live, and follow-up meetings. Train payroll administrators and HR teams on system functionality, processing responsibilities, controls, and best practices. Create and maintain customer-specific training materials and reference documentation. Set clear expectations and help customers develop the knowledge needed to process payroll independently. 5. Connected Workflows and Coordination Understand how employee onboarding, time entry, job setup, equipment time, job costing, general ledger posting, and related Accounting and Operations processes affect payroll. Coordinate with Accounting and Operations Implementors, Developers, Project Managers, training personnel, and Support teams. Communicate payroll decisions and dependencies to the team members whose work is affected. Assist with connected Accounting, Operations, HR, or implementation work when it supports the customer outcome or expands understanding of the full process. 6. Support Rotation and Knowledge Management Participate in the assigned customer support rotation and take ownership of payroll-related support questions. Research questions using available documentation, software resources, and internal expertise; escalate appropriately when additional review is needed. Document confirmed solutions and recurring issues so they can be reused in future support and training. Maintain accurate implementation notes, decisions, risks, tasks, and customer commitments in approved systems. Use approved AI tools to assist with documentation, research, and task management while validating all information for accuracy. Qualifications Demonstrated payroll expertise and the ability to independently evaluate payroll setup, calculations, compliance considerations, and processing results. Strong understanding of payroll taxes, earnings, deductions, benefits, accruals, employee records, payroll controls, and the complete payroll cycle. Construction payroll, prevailing wage, certified payroll, union payroll, job costing, HR, or accounting experience is strongly preferred. Trimble Viewpoint Vista experience is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to learn Vista and related tools quickly and translate existing payroll expertise into the new system. Experience training or guiding payroll users and communicating complex information in a clear, practical way. Strong attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, problem-solving, and follow-through. Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word, and learning complex computer systems. Ability to work independently, ask thoughtful questions, accept feedback, and make sound decisions within established processes. Willingness to learn connected Accounting and Operations workflows and take on related work when needed. What Success Looks Like Payroll setup and calculations are accurate, tested, clearly documented, and ready for go-live. Customers receive confident guidance and understand how to operate their payroll processes independently. Risks, discrepancies, and unanswered questions are identified early and actively resolved. Connected Accounting and Operations impacts are recognized and coordinated with the right team members. Support responsibilities are handled reliably, documented clearly, and escalated appropriately. Assigned implementations remain organized, customer commitments are completed, and go-live decisions are supported by clear evidence.
