Job Description

Summary Our company, located in the Renton / Maple Valley area, has an immediate opening for Payroll Coordinator. This position will ensure accurate processing and recording of weekly company payrolls, prepare paychecks and certified payrolls, and manage all cycles relating to payroll, benefits and some HR tasks. The right individual for this position will have the ability to diversify their skills and grow within the company, and the right person will have the ability to work well within a close-knit team and contribute to an upbeat atmosphere. Responsibilities
  • Review and calculate daily and weekly timecards with variable rates of pay, reconcile and address discrepancies and absences.
  • Enter and maintain accurate and timely employee data, enter wage rates and hours, process and prepare weekly payroll checks for signature for approximately 70 employees. Prepare payments for benefits, garnishments, and weekly tax deposits and submit positive pay.
  • Ensure taxes, benefits, leave and other payroll items are accurately accrued and deducted for each payroll.
  • Process new employee paperwork, which includes ensuring it meets DOT and FMCSA standards as required. Maintain employee files and records, and ensure documents are processed and filed timely and in accordance with governing laws.
  • Administer benefits such as the 401(k) plan, Davis Bacon pension plan, medical insurance and other voluntary insurance plans. Includes preparation, coordination and submission relating to open enrollments, census data, notices and other items.
  • Arrange for new hire drug testing and communicate random selections, and if required administer SAP. Maintain confidentiality for drug testing and medical information.
  • Create and maintain public works job information.
This includes preparing reports and submitting intents, affidavits, certified payrolls, 4/10 agreements and related reporting via email as well as to
L&I, LCP
tracker, and other systems
  • Prepare census, W2s, and work with Controller to prepare and submit other tax and reporting and assist with reconciliations.
  • Maintain the highest level of service for our customers to meet their requirements timely
  • Other office and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • Microsoft Office Suite - intermediate level preferred
  • Strong mathematical skills with keen attention to detail
  • QuickBooks Payroll experience required
  • Knowledge of laws affecting payroll and payroll taxes
  • Familiarity with prevailing wage and Davis Bacon rules, laws and reporting required
  • Previous construction or aggregate experience/knowledge a plus
  • Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy
  • Dedication to get the work done
  • Offers contingent upon negative drug test and background check
  • At least 3 years experience with payroll, at least 1 year with certified payroll reporting
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Owns responsibilities and functions well within a team
  • Willing to learn and take direction
