Job Description

Position Summary:
The Retail Banking Intern will gain hands-on experience in the retail banking operations while supporting the branch team in delivering exceptional customer service. Under the guidance of experienced staff, Interns assist with customer transactions, observe how to provide accurate information and resolve basic inquiries, and begin learning how to identify opportunities to strengthen customer relationships by understanding and suggesting appropriate banking products and services.
Hours:
Part-Time (20-25 hours), Flexible hours based on location and availability. 90 Day Program with possibility of permanent position post internship. This posting is for an internship beginning January 2027. In future, this internship will be offered three times annually, with cohorts beginning in January, May, and September. Essential Functions:
Work through the designed training curriculum, establishing the foundational knowledge and necessary skills of the retail banking division. Assist with accurately processing routine financial transactions. Shadow and learn how to maintain responsibility for accurate cash drawer and follow proper balancing procedures. Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Support the branch by providing excellent customer service, learning how to resolve inquiries, and how to cross-promote other bank services that lead to referring to other departments to help achieve goals set by management Learn about the supporting products, fees and policies. Participate in all training to understand and apply demonstrating compliance, fraud prevention and financial regulations for assigned job functions that apply to designated job responsibilities. Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training; follow internal processes and controls as required. Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma. Pursuing a college degree in a related field required. Prior customer service or cash handling experience is a plus Accuracy and attention to detail. Effective communicator - promotes Union Bank's customer service philosophy. Basic math skills and proficient computer skills. Willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment and ability to work independently and exercise good judgment. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance standards Commitment to a 90-day internship program
Valid Driver's License Working Environment:
Indoor work - not exposed to outdoor elements or hazards Ability to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time Some sedentary work lifting and/carrying up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
