Job Description

Summary/Objectives:
The Data Processor is responsible for accurate processing, reviewing, balancing, and maintaining financial transactions and records that support the Bank's daily operations. This position performs a variety of operational and accounting-related activities, including transaction processing, account reconciliation, electronic payments, and general ledger support while assisting customers and Bank employees with operational requests. The Data Processor ensures transactions and records are processed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with Bank policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Functions:
Process, review, verify, and balance financial transactions and account activity to ensure accurate and timely posting and maintenance of Bank records. Perform operational and accounting-related activities, including general ledger transactions, reconciliations, bookkeeping, and other assigned financial processing functions. Process and support electronic and other banking transactions, including ACH transactions, wire transfers, stop payments, returned items, chargebacks, statement requests, and other operational activities. Review transaction activity, calculations, postings, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness; research and resolve discrepancies or escalate issues as appropriate. Provide timely and professional support to customers and Bank employees regarding transactions, account activity, operational requests, and processing-related questions. Maintain accurate records and support documentation in accordance with Bank policies, internal controls, record retention requirements, and applicable regulations. Safeguard confidential customer and Bank information and ensure assigned transactions are processed in accordance with applicable security, privacy, and authorization requirements. Cross-train and provide backup support for other operational functions within the department to support continuity and efficient Bank operations. Collaborate with branch personnel and other Bank departments to research and resolve transaction or account-related issues and support effective operational processes. Maintain current knowledge of Bank policies, operational procedures, applicable regulations, and systems necessary to effectively perform assigned responsibilities. Actively participate in customer, community, and public relations activities to increase the bank's visibility and enhance new business opportunities. Additional duties as assigned.
Competencies:
Working knowledge of banking operations, transaction processing, financial recordkeeping, and basic accounting principles. Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to review, balance, and verify financial transactions and records. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies, research transaction issues, and facilitate appropriate resolution. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines. Ability to understand and follow Bank policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Bank employees and other departments. Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions within established authority. Ability to handle confidential customer, financial, and Bank information with discretion and integrity. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to learn and effectively utilize core banking, payment processing, accounting, and other operational systems. Education/Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred. One (1) to two (2) years of banking operations, data processing, accounting, bookkeeping, financial services, or related experience preferred. Experience processing financial transactions, performing account reconciliations, maintaining financial records, or working with electronic payment systems preferred. Experience with core banking systems, accounting software, payment processing systems, and Microsoft Office applications preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Supervisory:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities and may serve as a mentor for other positions in the organization. Working Conditions Normal office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to type, carry, handle, and feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus Multitask; perform tasks in an open office environment with noise from conversations, office machines, or other distracting sounds.
