Case management CPT coding Computer skills Full Job Description Financial Counselor Support Representative Suburban Hematology Oncology Associates (SHOA) Multiple Locations | Full-Time | Patient Financial Services Help Support Patients Through Their Care Journey Suburban Hematology Oncology Associates (SHOA) is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Financial Counselor Support Representative to join our Patient Financial Services team. This role serves as an important resource for patients and families by helping them navigate financial assistance programs, billing questions, insurance concerns, and healthcare-related support services during a critical time in their care journey. We are looking for someone who combines professionalism, empathy, organization, and strong customer service skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Why Join SHOA? Meaningful work supporting oncology patients and families Supportive and team-oriented healthcare environment Opportunity for growth within Patient Financial Services Training and cross-functional learning opportunities Stable, mission-driven oncology practice Competitive compensation and benefits package What You'll Do Support Financial Counselors with daily operations and new patient volumes Assist patients with financial assistance applications, charity care, and external foundation programs Research and apply for co-payment assistance programs and community resources Serve as a point of contact for billing questions and financial concerns Advocate for patients by helping resolve issues respectfully and professionally Provide compassionate support to patients and families during challenging situations Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions and assistance programs Communicate with patients by phone, written correspondence, and in person Collaborate with internal departments to improve patient satisfaction and workflow efficiency Provide backup coverage for Financial Counselors, including occasional travel between clinic locations
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent 2-3 years of experience in a healthcare, hospital, or clinic setting Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong computer and documentation skills Professional, dependable, and detail-oriented approach
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in patient financial counseling, registration, or healthcare customer service Knowledge of Medicare, PPO, HMO, and commercial insurance plans Medical terminology knowledge
