2989952943-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Essentia Health is seeking a Patient Financial Services Counselor to support patients in understanding and managing their healthcare financial responsibilities. In this role, you will review insurance coverage, estimate out-of-pocket costs, explain billing statements, and assist with payment plans and financial assistance applications. You will verify eligibility, collect and enter accurate patient information, and collaborate with clinical and billing teams to resolve account issues. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and skilled in customer service, helping patients navigate complex financial and insurance processes with clarity and respect. Responsibilities Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibilities Review and interpret insurance policies and billing statements Estimate patient out-of-pocket costs and explain payment options Assist patients with financial assistance and charity care applications Set up and manage payment plans in accordance with organizational policies Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and financial data Collaborate with billing, registration, and clinical teams to resolve account issues Respond to patient billing inquiries by phone and in person Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies Required Skills Medical billing and coding basics Health insurance verification Patient financial counseling Accounts receivable and patient account management EHR and practice management systems Knowledge of HIPAA and patient privacy Customer service and conflict resolution Payment plan setup and documentation Financial assistance program processing Data entry and accuracy
