Finance & Accounting Position Overview We are partnering with a leading law firm seeking an experienced Pricing Manager to join its Finance & Accounting organization. This is a highly visible role responsible for leading a small pricing team and developing creative, effective, and profitable pricing solutions that support the firm's financial objectives and client relationships. The Pricing Manager will work directly with partners, attorneys, Business Development professionals, senior leadership, and external clients on pricing strategy, Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs), matter budgeting, financial modeling, RFPs, and rate and fee negotiations. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced law firm pricing professional who combines strong technical and analytical capabilities with the executive presence necessary to advise attorneys and firm leadership. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of two Pricing Analysts, including oversight of workloads and priorities. Partner with attorneys and Business Development to develop profitable pricing strategies for client opportunities. Develop and evaluate Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs) using quantitative and qualitative analysis. Support attorneys during rate and fee negotiations with clients. Partner with practice group leaders to develop customized pricing and budgeting solutions based on client needs. Develop sophisticated financial models and analyze matter economics, profitability, historical billing, and collection data. Serve as an internal resource to help educate attorneys and stakeholders on pricing strategy and AFAs. Support pricing components of RFPs and other client proposals. Draft and review client-facing pricing language and non-standard engagement terms. Own and support the firm's matter budgeting, monitoring, and reporting processes/platform. Leverage multiple data sources to improve pricing analysis and decision-making. Present complex financial and pricing information clearly to attorneys, senior management, and other stakeholders. Stay current on legal pricing trends, best practices, and developments across the industry. Required Qualifications 5-7+ years of legal pricing experience within a law firm environment. Previous management or people-leadership experience. Strong understanding of Alternative Fee Arrangements (AFAs) and legal pricing strategies. Experience supporting firm-wide pricing initiatives. Demonstrated ability to work directly with partners, attorneys, and senior leadership. Strong financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and spreadsheet capabilities. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong overall Microsoft Office skills. Ability to analyze and clearly communicate complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to develop client-facing pricing language. Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a deadline-driven professional environment. Bachelor's degree in a business-related field required. Preferred Qualifications Experience within an AmLaw 100/200 or other large law firm environment. Experience working within a global law firm. Familiarity with law firm financial, pricing, and matter-management platforms such as Elite/3E, Aderant, or comparable systems. Experience educating attorneys and practice groups on pricing strategy and AFAs. Experience with matter budgeting, monitoring, profitability analysis, and reporting platforms.
Compensation New York, NY:
$140,000-$175,000 base + bonus
Washington, DC:
$125,000-$160,000 base + bonus There is additional compensation flexibility for an exceptional candidate . Hybrid Schedule The position will follow a phased hybrid schedule to allow for effective onboarding and integration with the team: First 3 weeks: Onsite 5 days per week Following 1-2 months: Onsite 3 days per week
Long-term:
