Job Description

The primary objective of this position is to provide technical and administrative support to the Planning Division staff, produce GIS maps and assist with code enforcement. It is anticipated this position will work 40 hours per week for a duration of six months with the potential for the position to be made a regular benefited position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Work across multiples areas in the Community Development Department including planning, code enforcement, housing and economic development. Assist with inspections as directed including, but not limited to: escrow, nuisance, signs, public property, zoning, landscaping, and property maintenance. Research topics as requested by Community Development staff. Maintain accurate records and computer files relating to the escrow accounts and inspections. Assist in the evaluation and compliance with of conditions of approval. Participate in a wide variety of internal meetings (planner's weekly meeting, technical review meeting, etc.). Produce location maps and other map requests as assigned using ArcGIS. Identify data sources and generate reports for division use. Assist with staff review of planning and development applications. Complete zoning compliance reviews for residential and commercial building permits, as assigned. Assist with the preparation of correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness. Perform all other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or apparent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
: Receipt of an Associate's degree or entering the fourth year of a Bachelor's degree program in Economic Development, Planning, Administration, Urban Studies, or a related program. Possession of a valid and unrestricted driver's license, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field. Knowledge and experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including ArcMap Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise and the like.

Considerable outdoor work is required in the inspection of various land uses and other matters. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
