Job Description
The City of Richmond Office of the City Assessor is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Real Estate Appraiser . The selected candidate is responsible for estimating market value of residential, small multi-family, or condominium properties, utilizing the standard approaches to valuation for the purpose of generating fair and equitable tax assessments. •This recruitment is for a position which is unclassified. Therefore, the successful candidate will serve at the will of the Appointing Authority. •Listing and appraising real property, collecting, and analyzing sales data and to be able to defend assessments in the appeal process Preparing valuation schedules for neighborhoods Investigating sales of real property and building characteristics for the purpose of property valuation Performing field inspections to identify and record building characteristic for quality of construction and condition Preparing reports that include narrative data and sketches Researching information for building, renovation and demolition permits Gathering, editing, and sorting data relative to property sales Effectively communicates with taxpayers by explaining assessment information and process Making independent decisions, solve problems, and meet production deadlines Measuring/calculating building size, reviewing assessments for office reviews, Board of Equalization, or circuit court Assisting and training other appraisers Performing related duties as assigned
