Completes core compliance activities, reconciles data to source systems, and recommends targeted fixes to improve cycle time and data integrity. Team provides support with numerous tax compliance tasks related to state and local indirect taxes, including state income taxes.
Duties and Responsibilities Completes core return schedules, estimated payments, and extensions, applying documented tax methods.
Prepares journal entries for monthly and quarterly close and supports basic tax account roll forwards.
Compiles multi‑source data for monthly tax account reconciliation and validates it ties to the general ledger.
Coordinates routine notice responses and maintains request logs to meet response timelines.
Performs targeted research on form instructions and filing requirements and summarizes findings.
Prepares property tax returns, sales & use tax returns, including excise tax returns.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
Required:
Typically requires a 4-year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in business Experience
Required:
Typically requires 2 years of related experience or higher.
Preferred:
Experience within a Fortune 500 company or public accounting firm is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
Ability to apply standard interpretive approaches with limited supervision.
Ability to explain tax impacts to non-specialist stakeholders.
Ability to identify tax issues or data inconsistencies and escalate appropriately.
Knowledge of applied tax concepts in one or more tax areas.
Knowledge of statutory guidance, regulations, and administrative rulings.
Skill in conducting routine tax research using authoritative sources.
Skill in preparing basic tax analyses or schedules.
Preferred:
Ability to perform tax research and document findings
Ability to learn new tax concepts and embrace new software applications Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
