$60-$90/hour DOE (potentially higher for qualified candidates) About the Opportunity Our client, a highly regarded wealth management and financial planning firm, is seeking a seasoned Senior Tax Advisor to support a sophisticated client base comprised of business owners, retirees, high-net-worth individuals, and families with complex tax planning needs. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys combining technical tax expertise with a consultative, client-facing approach. The Senior Tax Advisor will serve as a trusted resource to clients and advisors, providing both tax preparation and strategic tax guidance while managing a diverse portfolio of individual and business returns. Key Responsibilities Tax Advisory & Client Consultation Serve as a primary tax advisor for a portfolio of individual and small business clients. Conduct client meetings to review tax situations, identify planning opportunities, and address complex tax questions. Collaborate with financial advisors to support integrated wealth, retirement, and tax planning strategies. Provide guidance on tax-efficient strategies related to retirement distributions, business ownership, investments, estate planning, and other financial matters. Tax Preparation & Review Prepare and review complex federal and state tax returns, including: Individual Returns (Form 1040) Partnerships (Form 1065) S-Corporations (Form 1120-S) Multi-Entity Business Structures Trust and Estate Returns K-1 Reporting Identify deductions, credits, and advanced tax planning opportunities. Manage filing deadlines, extensions, and tax correspondence. Ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to current tax laws and regulations. Technical Leadership Research and resolve complex tax issues. Serve as a technical resource for advisors and internal team members. Escalate and manage unique client situations involving multi-state taxation, business ownership, estates, trusts, and other advanced tax matters. Stay current on federal and Minnesota tax law developments and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders. Qualifications Required Active CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential. Active PTIN in good standing. 5+ years of progressive tax preparation and advisory experience. Experience managing complex individual and closely held business tax engagements. Strong understanding of federal and Minnesota tax regulations. Proficiency with professional tax software such as UltraTax, Drake, ProSeries, Lacerte, or similar platforms. Ability to work directly with clients and explain complex tax concepts in a professional and approachable manner. Preferred 7+ years of public accounting, tax consulting, or wealth management tax experience. Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals and business owners. Multi-state tax expertise. Trust and estate taxation experience. Familiarity with tax planning strategies for retirees and investment portfolios. Prior experience within a CPA firm, family office, or wealth management organization. Ideal Candidate Trusted advisor mentality with strong relationship-building skills.
