$40.00/hr - $75.00/hr initial range, open to higher compensation based on Tax Preparation experience About the Opportunity Our client, a respected financial planning and wealth management firm in the Twin Cities, is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join its tax team. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with a diverse client base while preparing individual and small business tax returns in a collaborative, client-focused environment. The ideal candidate combines strong technical tax expertise with exceptional client service skills and enjoys helping clients navigate complex tax situations. Responsibilities Client Service & Consultation Meet with clients to gather tax documentation and financial information. Conduct client interviews to identify income sources, deductions, credits, and tax planning opportunities. Serve as a trusted resource throughout the tax preparation process. Review completed returns with clients and explain tax outcomes in a clear, professional manner. Tax Preparation Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
Prepare and review:
Form 1040 Individual Returns Schedule C Returns Partnership Returns (1065) S-Corporation Returns (1120-S) K-1 Reporting Estate and Trust Returns, as applicable Identify deductions, credits, and tax-saving opportunities. Electronically file returns and monitor acceptance status. Assist with tax-related questions, extensions, and follow-up requests. Compliance & Collaboration Maintain accurate and complete client records. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and firm standards. Collaborate with tax specialists and financial advisors on complex tax matters. Research and resolve tax issues as they arise. Qualifications Required Active Enrolled Agent (EA) credential required. Active PTIN in good standing. 3+ years of professional tax preparation experience. Experience preparing individual and small business tax returns. Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume tax workload. Strong knowledge of federal and Minnesota tax regulations. Experience with professional tax software such as Drake, Lacerte, UltraTax, ProSeries, or similar. Excellent communication and client relationship skills. Preferred CPA designation.
