Description We are looking for a detail-oriented tax specialist to join a public accounting team in Nashua, New Hampshire. This role supports a broad range of tax engagements by preparing accurate filings, addressing client questions, and contributing to reliable, timely service. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced tax leaders while building expertise across individual and business taxation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and examine tax filings for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and fiduciary entities to ensure completeness and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Support client engagements by collecting financial information, organizing documentation, and following through on submission timelines.
- Analyze returns and related workpapers to resolve discrepancies, correct errors, and improve overall accuracy before final delivery.
- Contribute to tax planning efforts by identifying practical opportunities that may help clients reduce exposure and meet reporting obligations.
- Research federal and state tax matters and summarize findings for discussion with managers and senior team members.
- Communicate directly with clients to answer routine tax questions, request missing information, and maintain a high level of attentive service.
- Keep client files, supporting schedules, and engagement records well organized and up to date throughout the tax cycle.
- Balance multiple assignments at once while meeting firm deadlines and assisting with additional tax-related projects as needed. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation.
- Hands-on experience preparing individual and corporate tax returns.
- Working knowledge of tax preparation and tax research applications, including CCH ProSystem Fx or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to investigate issues and reach sound conclusions.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA license or active progress toward certification is preferred.
