Job Description

NOTICE OF EXAMINATION INCOME TAX CLERK
The City of Bucyrus will conduct a Civil Service examination for an Income Tax Clerk in the Bucyrus City Income Tax Office to establish an eligibility list for an immediate opening. Applicant must be able to work overtime when required. This job is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with full benefits and OPERS pension plan. The starting rate of pay is $26.56 - $28.56 per hour. Applicants must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent. Tax experience is preferred for this position.
Job responsibilities include:
Assist the public in the preparation of tax returns Enforce the ordinances pertaining to the City's tax laws Audit tax returns for accuracy Process withholdings for business's Tax sub-contractors during business within the city Follow delinquent accounts through the court systems Collect delinquent accounts Reconcile cash drawers and make bank deposits Receive payments and make change Maintain customer and computer files Search for new accounts not filing Any duties assigned by the Tax Administrator or Auditor Applications are available at the Mayor/Service-Safety Director's Office, Bucyrus City Hall, 500 S. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday starting Monday, September 14, 2026. All applications shall be returned to the same office by Friday, October 16, 2026. The Civil Service examination will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Bucyrus City Hall, 500 S. Sandusky Ave., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. A passing score of 70% is required. Applicants exclaiming extra credit for honorable, active state and federal military service must substantiate that claim by an
ATTACHMENT TO THE COMPLETED APPLICATION AT THE TIME OF SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION. A
passing score is required to receive military credit.
