The Role:
Tax Controversy Associates provide advice, guidance, and representation with respect to practice and procedure matters, as well as audits and appeals, with the IRS and other domestic tax authorities for a variety of clients, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture backed startups, pass through entities and high net worth individuals.
Associates can expect to:
Represent clients through all stages of audits and appeals with the IRS and other domestic tax authorities; Assist clients in resolving all practice and procedure matters with the IRS and other domestic tax authorities; Conduct research and analysis on federal, state, and international tax issues, and draft legal memoranda, protest letters, and other deliverables; Advise internal tax compliance professionals at all levels on risk mitigation strategies and methods to avoid tax controversies in connection with tax planning and consulting engagements; Analyze technical IRS account transcripts to identify issues and exposure and advise internal tax compliance teams and clients through unique IRS account monitoring software; Coordinate communication, timelines, and deliverables for complex federal tax issues among internal tax compliance teams, tax authority representatives, and clients; Execute administrative appeals, internal escalations, and referrals to the Taxpayer Advocate Service to bring resolution to complex federal tax matters with the IRS; and Communicate directly with tax authority agents and officers through examination, appeals, collections, and accounts management functions to resolve outstanding issues.
The Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree; A minimum GPA of 3.0; Strong leadership, multitasking and organizational skills; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Exceptional interpersonal skills and an atural facilitator; Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; and Familiarity with MS excel Compensation and Benefits Our firm offers a competitive base salary and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being, growth, and long-term success of our people. Salary Range :
For individuals hired to work in McLean, Virginia, the expected salary range for this role is $77,500 to $84,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and skill set.
