Job Description
Overview Join our Indirect Tax Team as a Property Tax Specialist and become a vital part of our accounting operations! In this role, you will leverage your expertise to ensure accurate property tax returns and assessments across multiple taxing jurisdictions. Your keen attention to detail, strong data analysis skills, and familiarity with property tax laws and regulations will help ensure accurate, timely, and compliant property tax filings and payments. Duties will include retrieving data for Tangible Business Personal Property Tax Return filings, handling entries into our accounting software, conducting tax-related research, working with internal teams and collaborating with external parties as needed. Duties Prepare and review property tax returns and assessments to ensure accuracy and compliance with local & state regulations. Review & reconcile tangible personal property tax bills received from external parties. Conduct research to stay updated on local and state property tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance. Keep detailed and accurate tax records and documentation to support tax filings and audits. Act as a liaison with tax authorities, responding to inquiries and assisting in property tax audits. Provide support to the accounting team during financial audits, ensuring all property tax-related documentation is in order. Interact with third-party tax consultants who assist with property tax filings and payments. Promptly respond to/resolve tax notices and maintain tracking system of pending tax inquiries and discrepancies. Verify validity of customer tax exemption certificates & regularly perform maintenance of exemptions/resale certificates. Perform other duties and assist with projects as needed. Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Personal Property Tax. Ability to perform research on tangible personal property tax, with experience navigating tax websites to retrieve information & forms (Department of Revenues, SALT, County Assessors & Tax Collectors). Highly proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, & Outlook. High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tax filings & compliance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but not required. QuickBooks experience a plus, as is experience with ILS and Vertex O software. Familiarity with the Equipment Leasing industry is a plus. Positive attitude and approach to daily work, with willingness to take on additional tasks as needed. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to work a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in the office).
