Job Description

Under general supervision, performs administrative and investigative work associated with the enforcement of State and local regulations, with primary emphasis on the enforcement of Local Business Tax Receipt and Certificate of Use requirements. Is responsible for performing inspections of business locations and prosecuting violations within the Town of Davie. Reports to the Planning and Zoning Manager. Graduation from High School or Equivalent. Two (2) years of college-level course work. Possess at least two (2) years experience dealing with the public in any of the following fields: Code Enforcement, Planning, Building Inspection or Construction, Investigation, or other closely related field. Possess F.A.C.E. (Florida Association of Code Enforcement) Level I Certification, or must obtain certification within twelve (12) months from date of appointment; Possession of a valid Class "E" Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Must be physically able to operate a vehicle; Must not have drivers license suspensions within five (5) years of submission of an application unless it was insurance related. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays. Performs site inspections to determine compliance with Local Business Tax Receipt and related requirements. Works with business owners to obtain voluntary compliance and prepares notices of violation for non-compliance. Prepares cases for review by the Special Magistrate and provides testimony as needed. Maintains records of all compliance efforts. Performs research to prepare cases against violators. Delivers notices of violation. Performs tasks in accordance with established policies, directives and objectives of the department and the Town through code compliance procedures and techniques. Performs inspections, administrative and investigative work associated with other Town regulations. Performs administrative tasks associated with business tax collections.
