The Tax Technician I position is an entry-level position that gains the experience and skills that are sought after for many internal and external promotional opportunities. (https://youtu.be/D3a7w_igqDU) With the direction and supervision of a Business Taxes Administrator, the successful candidate will be trained to provide technical assistance in a contact center environment. The Tax Technician I learns and performs the less difficult and complex technical tasks, such as: Responding to inquiries regarding business tax laws and regulations, CDTFA policies and procedures, and general business information received from CDTFA's toll-free number.
Providing taxpayer assistance with registration, tax returns, tax payments, and guidance to available CDTFA resources.
Accessing and reviewing confidential taxpayer information.
Performing account maintenance duties, reviewing and processing various CDTFA forms and/or taxpayer correspondence, and contacting taxpayers by phone in order to obtain the most current contact information.
Utilizing an effective approach in handling difficult situations over the phone.
Performing other job-related duties as required. This limited term position may be extended up to twenty-four (24) months if workload is extended or become permanent if workload becomes permanent.
