Work involves performing, coordinating, and/or monitoring billing, follow-up, appeals & collections. Works under limited supervision while using good judgement in decision making. Examples of Work Performed Coordinates and monitors billing and collection activity on assigned payers and performs appeals on denied claims. Runs reports for assigned payers to assure timely collections. Determines proper payment and collections of charges from insurance payers. Files and maintains clerical records and reports pertinent to billing. Prepares summary of balance information related to refunds for approval by supervisor. Assist in billing claims & balancing payments. Maintain current knowledge of billing rules and regulations May assist with the training of others. Performs other related work as assigned. Experience and Training Should have experience in claims processing, follow-up, appeals and collections. Should have some experience in general office work, bookkeeping & accounting. Education Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of billing, with principles of collections and rules governing reimbursement. Skills in the use of a calculator, computer and other related office equipment. Ability to accurately perform numerical detail work and to follow instructions. Must be efficient and reliable and be able to meet the essential requirement of regular dependable attendance. Must have and maintain a level of general health which permits the performance of job duties and be able to lift up to 30 pounds. This position requires extensive keyboarding and sitting for prolonged periods of time
