The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Tax Manager to oversee the Company's tax compliance, reporting, planning, and risk management activities. In this role, you'll partner with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings, support strategic business decisions, and help strengthen tax processes that support the Company's continued growth and success.Overview:
The Tax Manager is responsible for managing the Company's tax compliance, reporting, planning, and related processes. This position serves as the primary liaison with external tax advisors for federal and state income tax filings, coordinates required documentation and approvals, oversees tax audits and inquiries, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. The Tax Manager also partners with Finance and operational leaders to assess tax implications of business activities, identify process improvements, and support effective tax planning strategies while minimizing risk. Coordinate the Company's federal and state income tax compliance process with external tax advisors Serve as the primary point of contact for tax advisors, managing information requests, timelines, and deliverables Coordinate internal reviews, approvals, signatures, and supporting documentation required for timely tax filings Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting obligations, including multi-jurisdictional requirements Manage quarterly and annual tax provision activities, tax account reconciliations, and supporting documentation Monitor tax law and regulatory developments and evaluate potential impacts to the business Partner with Finance and business leaders to assess tax implications of operational activities and capital investments Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, efficiencies, and internal controls Lead responses to tax audits, notices, and inquiries from taxing authorities Maintain the tax compliance calendar and ensure filing deadlines and obligations are met Develop strong partnerships with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and external advisors Provide leadership with guidance regarding tax planning opportunities, regulatory developments, and emerging tax risks Lead, coach, and develop tax team members to achieve departmental goals and performance expectations Perform other accounting, finance, and tax-related duties as assignedQualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate taxation, public accounting, or a related accounting and finance role Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations Experience managing multi-jurisdictional tax compliance requirements Experience coordinating tax compliance, reporting, tax provisions, audits, and interactions with external tax advisors Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and consistently meet reporting and filing deadlines Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems CPA designation or advanced degree in Taxation, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, or another regulated industry preferred Experience with tax planning, tax provision software, and ERP systems preferred Experience leading tax audits and working with regulatory agencies preferred Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred Strategic thinking and tax planning capabilities Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills Analytical decision-making and problem-solving abilities High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial informationBenefits & Culture:
