Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a public accounting team in Traverse City, Michigan. This position supports a diverse client base through tax compliance, accounting services, and payroll-related work while collaborating closely with internal team members. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage a range of tax matters with accuracy and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals, corporations, and partnerships across varying levels of complexity.
  • Support client accounting activities by maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with routine bookkeeping and reporting needs.
  • Administer payroll processes and related tax filings, ensuring timely and compliant handling of payroll obligations.
  • Use QuickBooks and related tools to manage client financial data, reconcile accounts, and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Partner with colleagues to deliver coordinated tax and accounting services while maintaining high standards for client service.
  • Analyze financial information to identify tax considerations, resolve discrepancies, and support accurate return preparation.
  • Work with tax preparation software and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, to complete assignments efficiently and thoroughly.
