Job Description
Tax Manager | CPA Firm Fort Worth, Texas | Hybrid $130,000 to $160,000 base salary plus 20% bonus CPA or EA required At some point, becoming better at reviewing returns stops feeling like career progression. You want to be involved before the work reaches the review stage. You want to understand what the client is trying to achieve, help shape the tax planning, and have a voice in the decisions rather than only dealing with the outcome afterwards. This independent CPA firm in Fort Worth TX is looking for a Tax Manager who wants that broader kind of role. You will still stay close to the technical work, but you will also become a trusted client contact, contribute to planning and consulting work, and work directly with firm leadership on issues that go beyond compliance. Advisory work is part of the role here, rather than something you need to wait until Partner level to experience. What could be better about this move You will have more involvement with clients throughout the year, not just during filing deadlines. That means conversations around tax planning, future decisions, business changes, and opportunities to help clients think ahead. You will also work closely with the people leading the firm, giving you better visibility into how decisions are made and more opportunity to contribute beyond your immediate engagements. Instead of spending most of your time behind review notes, you will have the chance to build stronger client relationships and develop the judgment and commercial awareness that matter as your career progresses. The firm offers hybrid flexibility and is looking for someone it can trust to manage their work, clients, and responsibilities appropriately. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $160,000 base salary, plus a 20% bonus. The role You will manage and review tax work for individuals and privately owned businesses. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and build relationships that continue throughout the year. You will provide proactive tax planning and practical advice alongside the compliance work. You will contribute to consulting projects with the leadership team and become involved in broader conversations around client strategy. You will also review work completed by junior team members and help them improve both technically and in the way they communicate with clients. As your client knowledge develops, you will be encouraged to identify areas where additional planning, advice, or support could genuinely help. Who they are open to The firm is willing to consider people currently working at Senior, Supervisor, or Manager level within public accounting. You will need a strong technical grounding in tax and the confidence to deal directly with clients. A CPA or EA is required. Just as importantly, you should want to understand the thinking behind the work rather than only completing the process. This could be a particularly good move if you keep hearing that you will get more advisory exposure at your current firm, but most of your time still disappears into compliance and review. It could also make sense if you are already taking on Manager level responsibility and want your title, compensation, client exposure, and visibility within the firm to better reflect what you are capable of. Start with a conversation You do not need to have every point above covered before getting in touch. The firm is interested in technical ability, judgment, potential, and how you work with clients rather than finding someone who matches a rigid checklist. Apply through Indeed or call me directly on 972 807 7244 for a confidential conversation. I am usually available from 6:00am CST and again after 5:00pm CST .
