Job Description

Straight Tax is a Long Island tax preparation firm serving individuals and small businesses since 2014. We are contracting an experienced independent reviewer to review returns before filing. Job Duties Review individual returns (and business returns as assigned) against source documents before filing Confirm Form 8867 due diligence files are complete Set your own hours and clear the daily review queue: every return submitted by 9:00 PM reviewed by 9:00 AM the next business day Document billable hours in WorkSnaps and join check-in calls as needed Log errors by preparer, give written feedback, and report daily review totals Escalate high risk or complex returns to our Manager Requirements 5+ years of professional tax preparation experience Active

Record of Completion, EA or CPA Prior experience reviewing other preparers' returns Private, quiet workspace for remote review Windows 10 or 11 computer with Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 or better and at least 16 GB RAM High speed internet of at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload, on a password protected private network. No public WiFi Dual monitor setup Headset with microphone for calls Current antivirus software Billable hours documented in WorkSnaps, which records activity and screenshots during tracked time Provide a W-9 and invoice every two weeks Own professional liability (E&O) insurance preferred Available for the full season through April 15 Preferred Bilingual English and Spanish CrossLink software experience Schedule C and Schedule E review experience Pay and Schedule $25.00 to $30.00 per hour, based on credentials and experience, paid on your invoice Contractor supplies own computer, monitors, internet and headset Season completion payment for working through April 15, per your contract Tax season: remote, flexible hours you choose. Can you review every return submitted by 9:00 PM by 9:00 AM the next business day, January 2027 through April 15? Do you have a Windows 10 or 11 computer with 16 GB RAM or more, dual monitors, a headset, and internet of at least 50 Mbps down and 10 Mbps up? Will you document your billable hours in WorkSnaps, which records activity and screenshots? Are you able to work as an independent contractor, provide a W-9, and invoice every two weeks?
