Job Description

Tax Preparer Edmond, Oklahoma $75,000 to $95,000 You can be good at preparing returns and still want more from your next role. Maybe you want more exposure to clients. Maybe you want to learn from people with deeper experience. Or maybe you are simply ready to join a smaller CPA firm where your work is visible and there is room to take on more responsibility over time. This independent CPA firm in Edmond, OK is looking for a Tax Preparer who wants to keep building. You will work across both individual and business taxation, prepare a varied mix of returns, support more experienced members of the team, and gradually become more involved in client communication and planning work as your confidence develops. The idea is not to keep you in a production role indefinitely. It is to give you the opportunity to become a stronger and more rounded tax professional. What could be better about this move You will work in an independent firm where it is easier for senior people to see the quality of your work and where you are developing. You will get exposure across individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, and other business entities rather than being limited to one narrow area. You will also work closely with experienced tax professionals who can help you improve your technical judgement and understand the reasoning behind the work. As you become more confident, there will be opportunities to communicate more directly with clients and take greater ownership of engagements. That should appeal if your current role gives you plenty to prepare but not much opportunity to grow beyond preparation. What you will be doing You will prepare federal and state tax returns for individuals and privately owned businesses. You will organise client information, identify missing items, ask the right questions, and help keep engagements moving toward completion. You will communicate with clients where appropriate to gather information and resolve straightforward tax matters. You will also support senior members of the team on tax planning and more complex work, giving you exposure to what happens beyond the return itself. Accuracy and deadlines will still matter, particularly during busy periods. But as you develop, the expectation is that your role can broaden into more client contact and greater responsibility. Who could fit You may already be working as a Tax Preparer or Tax Staff within public accounting. You could also be earlier in your career but have enough practical tax experience to work with a reasonable level of independence. You should have a solid grounding in individual and business tax preparation and be comfortable working through deadlines during busy season. The firm will value someone who is accurate, dependable, willing to ask thoughtful questions, and interested in understanding why the work is done, not just how to complete it. Compensation $75,000 to $95,000, depending on experience. Start with a conversation If your current role gives you plenty of work but not much development, this could be worth exploring. You can stay close to the technical side of tax while gaining more exposure to clients, experienced professionals, and the wider work of an independent CPA firm. You do not need to match every point above or have an updated résumé ready. Apply through Indeed or reach out directly for a confidential conversation.
