This is a hybrid, full-time role based in Jacksonville, FL, working directly with clients and alongside our team of preparers. Workload ramps up during tax season (Jan-April) but stays steady with bookkeeping work year-round — so no long off-season lulls. Bonus points if you're an EA or CPA — not required, but it'll definitely turn our heads (and might turn into a better paycheck). What You'll Do Tax Preparation Prepare individual (1040) and business (1120, 1120-S, 1065) tax returns using ProSeries Communicate directly with clients to gather documents, ask clarifying questions, and explain their returns in plain English Review prior-year returns and financial records for accuracy and opportunities Stay current on federal and Florida-relevant tax law changes Bookkeeping Manage ongoing monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients using QuickBooks Online Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close Prepare basic financial statements (P&L, balance sheet) for client review Clean up messy or backlogged books (historical catch-up/cleanup projects) Set up new QuickBooks files from scratch for clients who are just getting organized Assist with new client onboarding — gathering financial history, setting up chart of accounts, connecting bank feeds, and getting new clients into a smooth workflow Identify and flag discrepancies or unusual activity to the team Occasional payroll processing support as needed Client & Team Collaboration Serve as a client-facing point of contact — comfortable on calls and in meetings Work alongside our existing preparers as a collaborative teammate (not a heavily-managed junior role — we're looking for someone who can run with their own client work confidently) Report to the firm owner What We're Looking For Experience preparing both individual and business tax returns Solid bookkeeping experience, including cleanups and new setups (not just data entry — comfortable owning the books end-to-end) Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and ProSeries (or strong ability to ramp up quickly on ProSeries if coming from similar tax software) Comfortable working directly with clients — professional, clear communicator, good listener Self-starter who can manage their own workload and client relationships with minimal oversight Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven (especially Jan-April) EA or CPA credential a plus , but not required — PTIN required (or willingness to obtain one) Ability to work a hybrid schedule based in the Jacksonville, FL area Why Into Focus Accounting Full-time, stable role with meaningful year-round work (not just a seasonal tax gig) Hybrid flexibility Real ownership of client relationships — not stuck behind the scenes A team environment where your judgment and experience are trusted How to Apply Apply directly through this Indeed posting.
