About Us Arehart Associates Ltd is a CPA firm based in Waynesboro, VA, providing bookkeeping, tax preparation, and accounting services to individuals and small businesses in the Shenandoah Valley area. We're looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Tax Return Preparer to join our team. Position Overview We are seeking a full-time Bookkeeper/Tax Return Preparer to support our clients with day-to-day bookkeeping needs and assist with individual and business tax return preparation. This is an on-site role at our Waynesboro office. Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records for a variety of small business clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger entries
- Process payroll and related tax filings as needed
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Prepare individual (Form 1040) and business (Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065) tax returns under CPA supervision
- Organize and review client-provided documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Communicate directly with clients to gather information and answer routine questions
- Assist with sales tax and other state/local filings as applicable
- Support the firm during tax season with expanded return preparation volume Qualifications
- Prior experience in bookkeeping and/or tax preparation required
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with UltraTax a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- EA, CPA candidate, or working toward professional certification a plus, but not required What We Offer

Pay:
