Job Overview TUFCU Member Services
  • Head Teller is responsible for supervising the teller line.
In this position the ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in all aspects of the credit union's policies and procedures. This person will show leadership and have a track record in strong teambuilding and teaching. The Head Teller will have the ability to assist tellers with more complex tasks and approve exception transactions. Additionally, the Head Teller will be responsible for managing schedules and will ensure that there are enough tellers to provide a sufficient level of service during busy periods. As unique situations present themselves, the individual must be sensitive to Credit Union needs, member and employee goodwill, and the public image of our institution. In this position, ideal candidates will exhibit excellent customer service skills, attentiveness, information retention, tact and diplomacy in dealing with both members and fellow employees. Candidates will also show an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, will handle a high pressure and stress atmosphere and show the ability to make sound decisions. This may include making on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions.
Basic Functions:
Coordinate and supervise all aspects of teller operations within the branch ensuring the daily activities of the tellers are performed in a timely, accurate and courteous manner. Order and conduct cash management duties. Well versed in all branch operational procedures. Good leadership skills and the ability to motivate others when necessary. Actively participates in the branch incentive program by promoting and participating in a sales and service culture consistent with the credit union's business plan goals. Provide working leadership and guidance to tellers through assignment of work and by providing technical guidance.
Essential Functions:
Supervise teller staff, assisting in the coaching, training and the development of tellers Assists tellers in solving member problems, serving as an operational reference Aid tellers with balancing problems. Order and maintain vault cash. Schedule work hours and breaks for all teller personnel. Ability to step in for the Assistant Branch Manager or Branch Manager Make exceptions to policy as appropriate and within authority Refer and cross-sell credit union products and services; meet or exceed sales goals. Accurate completion of required audit logos. Adhere to help enforce all security procedures as well as other departmental policies and procedures. Balance and maintain cash dispense machine(s). Audit ATM monthly as well as cash drawers, according to policy. Investigate teller losses and institute a corrective flow of work. Research and resolve member questions, problems and concerns by telephone, written correspondence or in person. Responsible for maintenance and security of all negotiable instruments housed in the branch
Other:
Assist branch management with any other duties, as assigned. Work overtime if requested by management Complete monthly reports to be given to management. Working Environment Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting required Responsibilities of Member Services
  • Head Teller Competent and knowledgeable in all responsibilities of the TUFCU Member Services
  • Teller position. Assist with Teller Training, making sure that the individual and the teller line complies with all regulatory and security policies. Responsible for vault and the auditing, reporting and balancing of cash draw. Manages the credit Union currency levels, tracks currency shipments and deliveries. Must be a team player Qualification for Member Services
  • Teller High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Associates or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
2-3 years' experience as a teller Prior experience as a supervisor Competence with computers, telephone, 10-key calculator and other office machinery. Mathematical skills. Strong communication & organizational skills. Detail oriented, high degree of accuracy. Familiar with retail banking regulations and teller roles and responsibilities relating to each.
