Job Description

Description Jeff Abrams with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for an investment management platform for his client. This role will lead core fund and management company accounting activities, support investor reporting, and partner with internal and external stakeholders to maintain accurate, timely financial information. The ideal candidate brings strong fund accounting expertise, sound judgment around valuations, and the ability to manage multiple reporting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct quarterly and annual closing activities for investment funds and the management company, including preparation of financial statements, valuation support, and related reconciliations.
  • Analyze valuation materials, assess trends and assumptions, and contribute financial insights for review with the Valuation Committee.
  • Maintain parallel fund accounting records to validate administrator reporting and support internal oversight of financial results.
  • Partner closely with the fund administrator to review outputs, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate books and records.
  • Coordinate with external auditors by organizing schedules, responding to requests, and facilitating an efficient audit process.
  • Review tax return packages and assemble supporting documentation needed for filings and related financial reporting.
  • Prepare materials that support quarterly investor communications, including reporting schedules and underlying financial data.
  • Work cross-functionally to gather and monitor operating and financial information received from portfolio companies for reporting and analysis.
  • Support the development and documentation of finance policies, procedures, cash management activities, budgeting, and audit confirmation tracking, including opportunities to improve automation.
  • Assist with investor-related activities such as capital call and distribution calculations, notice preparation, marketing presentation support, and responses to information requests from current and prospective investors.   • Experience in fund accounting, with a strong understanding of investment fund structures and management company financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage period-end close processes and produce accurate financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Knowledge of valuation review practices and the ability to interpret financial analytics in an investment environment.
  • Familiarity with working alongside fund administrators, external auditors, and tax advisors.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with careful attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams, investors, and external service providers.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple deadlines and priorities within a fast-paced finance function.
