Controller (Tactical in Nature) Job Title Exempt Non-Exempt Valley Farm Transport (VFT) is a family-owned company founded in 1963, built on hard work, strong values, and a deep connection to agriculture. CFO Job Summary:
Assists CFO with the financial affairs of the organization and with preparation of financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Accounts & Operations:
1. Manage accounting for all Nickum Holdings, Inc. related entities (Waveco, Inc. dba Valley Farm Transport, Inc., Gaelco Leasing, Inc., Inc., Crimsonco, LLC, and RBN, LLC, DFN, LLC and Nickum Ag Investments) and any other entities that are instituted under the Nickum Holdings, Inc. umbrella. 2. Prepare financial statements and consolidation for all Nickum Holdings, Inc. entities including entering and recording journal entries, accruing for labor and other expenses, recording monthly allocation for items that are split between companies and conducting account analysis periodically to ascertain that individual account balances are correct while maintaining the integrity of the individual statements (all financial reporting is due by the 9th working day of every month). 3. Participate in yearly performance of key clients and their profitability. 4. Review monthly customer revenue performance. 5. Manages line of credit transfers, borrows, and pays back line of credit as appropriate. 6. Manages depreciation schedule. 7. Manage Fixed Asset List in NetSuite. 8. Apply capitalization policy to operating expenses. 9. Manage fleet mileage annually to compute analysis regarding revenue per mile. 10. Manage recognition of debt service payments. 11. File and maintain records. 12. Maintain Company Website 13. Participate in annual RFPs and arranging equipment financing.
Management:
14. Recommend and implement policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations. 15. Become familiar with all VFT Terminals and their operations and financial contributions. 16. Be proactive regarding alliances, partnerships, and potential investment opportunities. 17. Create and maintain relationships with community and industry leaders as well as respected competitors. 18. Promote communication and cooperation among departments to create a positive and collaborative culture within the organization. 19. Work in partnership with the Human Resources and Payroll Departments. 20. Project a positive image to employees, customers, industry, and community 21. Create and maintain an employee friendly atmosphere. 22. Be readily available to all employees; always keep an open-door policy. 23. Leading while preserving the company culture. 24. Visit terminal locations on a periodic basis.
Leadership:
25. Participate in key decisions of Executive Management team. 26. Always encouraged to come up with different financial metrics that will help improve overall performance. 27. Aid in analyzing VFT cost structure. 28. Maintain the highest standards of excellence in appearance and attitude. 29. Serve as a professional role model for employees. 30. Effectively lead, manage, and develop staff accountants and AR/AP Specialists. 31. Prepares Board of Director's materials. 32. Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction. 33. Maintains expense data over multiple years by pricing category to ensure current pricing factors are up to date. 34. Be able to manage future costs that would affect term contracts. 35. Aid in reviewing ways to minimize costs.
Planning:
36. Assist with budget process, forecasts, and capital requests for three companies and prepares various financial analyses as requested, including driver pay, expense trends, revenue details, fuel cost, etc. (budget should be finalized by December 1st for the upcoming year). 37. Assist CEO to develop financial and tax strategies.
Reporting:
38. Prepare (or oversee) all daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, etc. with a high degree of accuracy. 39. Prepare for annual CPA review with supporting schedules, analysis, reports, etc. with a high degree of accuracy (it is our preference not to get extensions). 40. Manage depreciation computations for monthly financials and budget forecasts. 41. Manage journal entries for all fixed assets. 42. All analysis results will be reported to the owner monthly.
Risk Management:
43. Assists CFO/CEO with all insurance renewals and audits (manage accuracy of what is being insured). 44. Maintain a high level of confidentiality. 45. Reviews contracts, agreements for completeness and protection from liability.
Other:
46. Ability to formulate additional analysis monthly (i.e., EBITDA analysis, YOY cash flow analysis, etc.). 47. Always represents the best interests of all Nickum Holdings, Inc. entities. 48. Lead in the compliance and recording of taxes, fees, permits, and insurance. Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, accountancy/economics focus, CPA and MBA desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of related experience.

Technical Proficiencies:
1. Comprehensive understanding of accounting practices. 2. Ability to maintain moderately complex and automated accounting records in an orderly and accurate manner (navigate NetSuite and QuickBooks). 3. Ability to generate special computerized reports and schedules with minimum direction. 4. Ability to operate and navigate a computer and to work with software applications at an advanced level (specifically Excel). 5. Ability to work accurately and quickly under operational deadlines, must meet deadlines. 6. Ability to formulate additional analysis monthly (i.e., YTD EBITDA analysis, YOY cash flow analysis, etc.).
