Three Way Logistics is a full-service logistics company offering tailored transportation, warehousing, and supply chain solutions across multiple industries in the United States. We are looking for a Controller to join our Finance and Accounting Team in Fremont, CA.

Executive Leadership Salary:
$130,000-$160,000 DOE. Position Overview The Controller will play a key leadership role within the Finance & Accounting organization, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, cash management, financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting and forecasting support, internal controls, and financial analysis. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership and operational teams to provide visibility into the financial performance of the company's transportation, warehousing, logistics, and service operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can operate effectively in a multi-location, multi-company, operationally complex environment and is comfortable balancing technical accounting, financial reporting, process improvement, and business partnership . Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Reporting Lead and oversee the daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reporting. Analyze financial results, identify trends and variances, and communicate key findings to executive leadership. Develop and maintain financial reporting packages and KPIs for leadership and operational teams. Partner with leadership to improve visibility into revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability. Accounting Operations Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, fixed assets, accruals, and reconciliations. Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable accounting standards. Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency. Support the development and documentation of scalable accounting processes as the organization grows. Multi-Location Operations Support accounting and financial reporting across multiple operating locations and business units. Partner with operations leaders to understand location-level financial performance. Establish consistent financial processes and reporting standards across the organization. Monitor intercompany transactions, allocations, and location-level reporting as applicable. Budgeting & Forecasting Partner with the CFO and executive leadership on annual budgeting and forecasting. Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning. Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast. Provide analysis and recommendations related to profitability, labor costs, operating expenses, and capital expenditures. Operational Finance Partner with operations, transportation, warehousing, and business leaders to understand the financial drivers of the business. Analyze profitability by customer, service line, location, and/or business unit. Help leadership understand the financial impact of operational decisions. Identify opportunities to improve margins, control costs, and increase profitability. Support pricing, contract, and customer profitability analysis. Audit, Tax & Compliance Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, insurance providers, and other financial partners. Support annual audits and tax filings. Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop accounting professionals. Establish clear expectations, processes, and performance standards. Evaluate the effectiveness of the accounting organization and recommend improvements. Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a business-minded, operational approach .
You are someone who can:
Own the accounting function while remaining hands-on when necessary. Translate financial information into meaningful business insights. Partner effectively with operations and executive leadership. Improve processes rather than simply maintain them. Work comfortably in a fast-paced, multi-location environment. Identify problems, determine root causes, and implement practical solutions. Build strong relationships across departments. Lead and develop accounting teams while maintaining high standards of accuracy and accountability. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience. 3+ years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership position. Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes. Experience with general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting. Experience managing or mentoring accounting personnel. Strong Excel/financial modeling skills. Experience working with an ERP or accounting system (Netsuite preferred). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with executive and operational leadership. Preferred Qualifications CPA or CPA-track experience. Experience within transportation, logistics, warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, construction, or another asset-intensive industry . Experience with multi-location accounting. Experience analyzing customer, project, or business-unit profitability. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Experience implementing or upgrading ERP/accounting systems. Experience in a privately held or entrepreneurial organization experiencing growth. Experience building scalable accounting processes and internal controls. What Success Looks Like Within the first 6-12 months, the Controller will: Establish a consistent and efficient monthly close process. Improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Improve AP processes Provide leadership with greater visibility into profitability and operating performance. Strengthen accounting controls and processes. Improve financial reporting across locations and business units. Build strong relationships with operational leadership. Identify opportunities to improve margins and control costs. Develop and strengthen the accounting team.
