As Controller, you will work directly with the CFO to help build the strong internal financial backbone needed to support what comes next. Controller - Your Job Duties You will work directly with the CFO to manage hands-on accounting operations, month end close and financial reporting in a very hands-on role.
You will:
Own the general ledger, including daily accounting activity, journal entries, adjusting entries and account reconciliations Lead the month end and year end close process, ensuring financial information is accurate, complete and timely Prepare monthly financial statements work closely with CFO and CEO to identify improvements in systems and help implement them (ie: AI and automations) Assist in hiring additional accounting support staff to manage A/R, A/P, payroll and daily accounting. Work directly with the CFO to provide accurate financial information and reporting to support business decisions Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash activity Perform hands on accounting work alongside a small support staff, jumping into the annual audit process Support budgeting, financial analysis and cash flow management Maintain accurate accounting records and financial controls in accordance with GAAP Support outside CPA, tax and audit requirements by preparing financial information, schedules and supporting documentation Help strengthen accounting processes, reporting and controls Controller - You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit) You have: Prior accounting experience within cattle ranching, ranching, agriculture or a related agricultural business Strong GAAP accounting knowledge and hands on general ledger accounting experience Prior experience owning month end close, including reconciliations, journal entries and adjusting entries Prior experience preparing monthly financial statements Prior experience working with limited accounting support where you personally own key accounting processes Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting or ERP software Experience implementing AI automations / accounting automations to streamline operations Controller - Benefits for You Your compensation will be $140,000 to $160,000 depending on experience, plus insurance stipends. To start, you will work remotely to start while partnering directly with the CFO. This position is located in Colorado and is expected to transition into working alongside the CFO in the office as the role develops.
