Type:
full-time Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller with a strong construction industry background to support financial operations, reporting, and project-based accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, billing, and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and account reconciliations. Support preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and internal management reports. Oversee job costing , project accounting, and tracking of construction-related expenses. Prepare and review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and support revenue recognition processes. Monitor subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and compliance documentation. Assist with AIA billing , progress billing, and collections related to construction projects. Help maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial workflows. Partner with project managers and operations leadership to analyze project financial performance. Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and audit preparation. Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable construction accounting standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3+ years of accounting experience, with direct experience in the construction industry required. Strong knowledge of construction accounting , including job cost accounting, WIP, percentage-of-completion, and project billing. Experience with ERP/accounting systems used in construction environments. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills. CPA or CPA-track preferred.
