Overview The Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company while ensuring that financial records are accurate, organized, and up to date. This position will work closely with ownership and management to oversee cash flow, accounts payable and receivable, payroll reporting, bank reconciliations, financial statements, and overall accounting procedures. The ideal candidate is highly organized, experienced with QuickBooks , comfortable working in a construction or service-based environment, and capable of independently reviewing financial activity and identifying discrepancies. Responsibilities Manage and oversee daily accounting operations Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable Review and properly categorize company expenses and transactions Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations Monitor customer payments, deposits, progress payments, and outstanding balances Process and track vendor bills, payments, credits, and subcontractor expenses Review the General Ledger for accuracy and resolve discrepancies Prepare and review Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, and other financial reports Monitor company cash flow and provide financial updates to ownership Coordinate payroll information and review payroll reports Assist with payroll-related accounting and employee wage reporting Maintain accurate records for subcontractors and vendors Assist with sales tax reporting and other required financial filings Maintain organized documentation for audits, insurance reviews, and tax preparation Work with the company's CPA, payroll provider, banks, and other financial professionals as needed Establish and maintain appropriate accounting procedures and internal controls Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrections Assist ownership and management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and confidentially Qualifications Previous accounting, Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar financial management experience Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting Proficiency with QuickBooks Online Experience with bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and General Ledger accounting Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities Strong organizational and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general office software
