full-time We're partnering with an established nonprofit healthcare and human services organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead its day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the financial complexity of a government-funded, program-based nonprofit, particularly an organization with a meaningful third-party billing component. The Controller will report directly to senior finance leadership and oversee a small team responsible for accounting, billing, and contract-related finance activities. What You'll Do Lead the monthly and annual close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis across multiple programs Manage accounting and financial compliance for state, federal, and privately funded contracts and grants Oversee contract billing, reimbursement requests, cost allocations, and financial reporting to funders Provide leadership and oversight for the organization's third-party billing and revenue cycle operations Monitor AR, denials, collections, reimbursement trends, and other revenue cycle metrics Partner with program leadership on budgets, financial performance, contract utilization, and variance analysis Lead annual audit preparation and coordinate required nonprofit and government-funded reporting Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, funding requirements, and applicable regulations Review financial processes and systems and identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and efficiency Develop and mentor accounting and billing staff What We're Looking For Strong full-cycle accounting background, including close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation Hands-on experience with government contracts and/or grant-funded programs Experience with contract billing, cost allocations, reimbursement-based funding, and compliance reporting Experience overseeing third-party billing or revenue cycle operations Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and GAAP Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting/financial reporting systems
