DUTIES:
Interns will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dermatology practice and develop a deeper understanding of patient care and clinical operations. Depending on training and responsibilities, experiences may include: Scheduling and coordinating medical appointments Learning the basics of insurance verification and patient eligibility Recording and updating patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) Assisting with prescription-related administrative processes Communicating professionally with patients regarding appointments, laboratory results, and follow-up care Preparing and assisting with dermatologic procedures, including biopsies and surgical excisions Observing and assisting with laser and cosmetic dermatology procedures, as appropriate Supporting the clinical and administrative team in the day-to-day operations of a dermatology practice Developing professional communication, teamwork, and patient-service skills
REQUIREMENTS
Must have completed, or be on track to complete, an undergraduate Bachelor's Degree before or at the start of the internship Strong interest in pursuing medical school, healthcare, dermatology, or a related medical field Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills Professional, dependable, organized, and team-oriented Comfortable interacting with patients and working in a fast-paced medical environment Willingness to learn both clinical and administrative aspects of dermatology Ability and willingness to commit to a full-time internship schedule throughout the gap year Applicants seeking only limited, occasional, or part-time availability will not be considered for this opportunity Current availability is preferred, as Lenzy Dermatology is looking to fill the position as soon as possible Applicants may be considered for Gap Year Internship opportunities extending through 2027 or as far in advance as their academic plans allowThis paid GAP Year Medical Office Position offers an exciting opportunity to develop foundational skills in healthcare while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
