Job Description

Controller Toner Plastics, East Longmeadow, MA Full-Time, In-Person Toner Plastics is an established manufacturing company located in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. We are seeking a capable, hands-on Controller to lead and manage our accounting function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who wants to take ownership of financial operations in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across both higher-level financial oversight and day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Job Summary The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's accounting operations, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, month-end close, financial reporting, HR administration, and insurance coordination. Key Responsibilities Accounting and Financial Management Perform daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and account reconciliations. Complete the monthly close process and prepare accurate monthly financial statements. Maintain the general ledger Process payroll weekly Perform accounting and reporting functions for affiliated entities as needed. Coordinate with outside accountants, tax advisors, insurance providers, banks, and other professional service providers as needed. Human Resources Administration Manage HR-related administrative functions. Coordinate employee benefit programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions. Handle annual insurance renewals, including health insurance, workers' compensation, liability insurance, and other company policies. Workers' Compensation, OSHA, and Safety Administration Manage workers' compensation claims and related documentation. Assist with OSHA compliance and required record keeping and reporting. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a stable work history , bachelor's degree in accounting and solid progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. This person should be comfortable in a hands-on Controller role where they are responsible for both managing the accounting function and directly supporting key day-to-day accounting activities. We are looking for someone with strong logical thinking skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to take ownership of the accounting function. The right candidate will be interested in growing with the company and improving the way the accounting department operates over time. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred. Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or similar role. Manufacturing accounting experience preferred. Experience with HR administration and employee benefits preferred. Strong Microsoft Excel skills required. Experience with Sage 300 and QuickBooks is a plus. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with management and employees across the company.
