Controller
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Controller, under minimal management, provides supervision and control of the finance functions with a focus on month/quarter and year-end closing process and planning/budgeting/forecasting. This position customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment making recommendations for courses of action for the business.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manages the fixed asset system, calculates and books depreciation while ensuring compliance with corporate policy.
Reconciles accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries.
Meets strict month end, quarter end, and year end close deadlines for journal entries and reporting.
Prepares financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
Produces and manages balance sheets and analyzes future earnings and expenses.
Assists with the management of accounting, auditing, and budgeting with the organization.
Assists with preparations for audits.
Ensures compliance with and prepares reports according to GAAP and any applicable government regulations.
Uses accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
Coordinates with and prepares reports for the General Manager and upper management.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Solid understanding of GAAP and applicable regulations

Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and other systems as required
Knowledge of JD Edwards, Syman, and Hyperion software preferred Multi-Site Responsibility for Batavia, IL and Sioux Falls, SD facilities
On-site work required
Candidate can reside close to either facility with monthly commutes to other facility.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
At least 3 years' experience in accounting
Accounts payable, accounts receivable, costing, and general ledger experience
