Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for the overall accounting operations of Salisbury Moore Construction. This includes preparing financial reports, maintaining accounting records, ensuring compliance with GAAP, implementing internal controls, managing insurance and licensing, overseeing compliance documentation, and driving financial accuracy and accountability across the organization. ________________________________________
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee job budgeting and assist in preparation of job status reports. Lead weekly budget reviews with project managers; adjust budgets as needed. Manage sales tax tracking and filing for all applicable states and entities. Oversee and maintain insurance policies and audits, including renewals and claim support. Conduct monthly account reviews and close books in ERP System. Manage credit card expense reporting; identify any discrepancies or excessive charges. Follow up on accounts receivable monthly via email and phone communication. Draft and manage customer change orders. Prepare monthly AIA billing and submit to clients; maintain records according to retention policy. File all required quarterly and annual financial reports. Create and maintain master billing and change order tracking spreadsheets. Set up new jobs in system and ensure financial accuracy. Maintain all compliance and licensing documentation; apply for new licenses and renewals as needed. Submit Lien Agent paperwork and Wake County tax reports. Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts. Troubleshoot and maintain accounting software systems. Manage all workers' compensation and general insurance claims. Oversee and update all insurance and bonding paperwork. Address all company credit card issues, including fraud resolution. Perform other related duties as assigned by the President.
Requirements:
Required Skills/Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting Strong Microsoft Excel and accounting software skills Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities Exceptional attention to detail and time management Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to lead, train, and supervise others Ability to handle sensitive financial data with confidentiality and integrity
Education and Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent experience
Required:
Five or more years in a similar accounting leadership role
Preferred:
CPA or construction industry accounting experience
Licensing/Certification:
Required:
Valid North Carolina Driver's License ________________________________________
