Job Description

Who we are: Fello is an event tech rental company that provides end-to-end solutions for conferences, festivals, trade shows, fundraising events and more. We are the Certified Hardware Partner for Square plus offer iPad and iPhone rentals, accessories, Eventbrite hardware and more. Serving the Continental United States and Canada, Fello is uniquely situated to deliver the best tech rental experience to corporations nationwide. About the Role As Controller, you'll own Fello's day-to-day accounting and financial operations, keeping the books accurate, cash visible, and the close on schedule while giving leadership the reporting and controls to run a growing business with confidence. You'll also oversee a part-time bookkeeper.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Close Own day-to-day accounting operations — AP, AR, billing, collections, and the general ledger (QuickBooks) Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, including reviewing system-generated reports for invoice accuracy Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure proper expense/revenue classification Manage recurring and project-based billing, including collections follow-up and AR aging analysis Cash & Banking Review operating, holding, and checking accounts daily and oversee all transaction activity Build and maintain a rolling weekly cash-flow forecast across all accounts Monitor company credit cards and ensure timely payments Process customer check deposits and issue checks for commissions, refunds, and other payments as needed Payroll, Commissions & Team Support payroll accounting and reconciliations, including cross-month accrual and reversal entries Oversee monthly commission processing, reconciling data across CRM and accounting systems Manage 401(k) administration Oversee and review the work of a part-time bookkeeper Compliance & Reporting Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reporting; develop budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting Administer insurance policies and file New Jersey sales tax returns and other applicable filings Prepare annual Forms 1099, support the workers' compensation audit, and coordinate with the outside CPA on tax filings and year-end matters Give leadership timely financial insights and recommend process/systems improvements as the company scales
Technical Qualifications & Soft Skills:
5+ years of accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller-level responsibility Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices Advanced QuickBooks and Excel skills; comfortable working across multiple systems (payroll, CRM, banking portals) Proven ownership of month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management Highly organized and precise, comfortable working independently and directing a support bookkeeper Experience in a growing, entrepreneurial business preferred CPA or accounting degree preferred, but not required for the right candidate
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
