Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead core accounting operations and provide strong financial oversight for a multi-entity organization in Model City, New York. This role is responsible for ensuring timely close cycles, accurate reporting, and disciplined internal controls while partnering with finance leadership on planning and profitability analysis. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to managing accounting functions, improving processes, and guiding a high-performing team.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Evaluate and authorize journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Manage accounting operations across multiple entities, business units, and sites while promoting consistent financial practices.
- Review financial performance, investigate variances against budget and prior periods, and communicate key drivers to leadership.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and broader accounting staff by setting priorities, assigning work, and monitoring performance.
- Enhance accounting workflows, formalize procedures, and implement process improvements that increase efficiency and reliability.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and risk management practices to support compliance and reduce exposure.
- Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, lender reporting, and banking covenant support.
- Build and refine cost accounting and profitability analysis to improve insight into margins by division, customer segment, and location.
- Support sales tax administration, financial modeling, operational reporting, and insurance-related financial analysis, including assessment of deductible structures.
