•Family Office | New York City A highly sophisticated, privately held family office is seeking a Controller to join its New York-based finance team. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a strong accounting professional who wants to step out of a large, siloed organization, gain broader ownership, and work directly alongside the CFO. The organization is entering an exciting period of transformation as it builds out a newly independent operating structure and continues to enhance its finance and accounting infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner directly with the CFO and become a senior member of the finance organization Lead key aspects of the monthly and quarterly close Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity Support financial statement preparation and management reporting Oversee accounting for payroll, compensation, professional fees, technology, rent, and other operating expenses Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Manage and develop approximately three junior accounting and financial operations professionals Strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes Help optimize the organization's recently implemented Oracle NetSuite platform Play a meaningful role in building and professionalizing the accounting function
Ideal Background:
Approximately 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience CPA strongly preferred Strong technical accounting foundation with hands-on close experience Deep understanding of journal entries, debits and credits, reconciliations, and financial statements Management company, corporate, or operating company accounting experience Experience within private equity, private credit, alternative asset management, or another sophisticated financial services environment is highly attractive Family office experience is not required Exposure to operating expenses, payroll/compensation accounting, budgeting, and forecasting ERP experience required; NetSuite is a major plus Ability to operate independently and take ownership in a lean environment Strong communication and leadership skills Why Explore It?
