Position Summary The Financial Controller / Accounting Director is a senior leadership role responsible for the full financial oversight of our trailer manufacturing operation, as well as the financials of two affiliated companies under common ownership. This individual will own the accounting function end to end — from daily operations through strategic planning — and will partner directly with ownership and executive management to protect financial integrity, optimize cost structures, and support sound decision-making across all three entities. Key Responsibilities Multi-Entity Financial Oversight Serve as the primary financial leader for the trailer manufacturing company and two affiliated companies under common ownership. Maintain clean separation of books, intercompany transactions, and reporting across all entities. Consolidate and present financial results to ownership in a clear, actionable format. Accounting Operations Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. Oversee month-end and year-end close processes across all entities, ensuring robust internal controls. Manage general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable oversight, and audit preparation. Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory bodies as needed. Financial Planning & Analysis Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, forecasts, and long-term financial plans for each entity. Perform variance analyses to explain deviations from budget and identify corrective actions. Monitor cash flow and working capital across all companies to support day-to-day operations and growth. Cost & Operational Analysis Conduct cost analyses on production, materials, and labor to guide pricing strategy and protect margins in a manufacturing environment. Collaborate with production and operations teams to implement effective cost controls. Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and track return on investment. Strategic Leadership Serve as a key advisor to ownership, offering recommendations grounded in thorough financial analysis. Provide financial guidance on strategic projects including new product launches, market expansion, and operational improvements. Lead financial modeling and scenario planning to support major business decisions. Team Development & Management Mentor and manage accounting staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. Build processes and documentation that strengthen the finance function as the companies grow. Qualifications Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification highly desired. Experience Minimum of 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and financial analysis, ideally in manufacturing or industrial operations. Experience managing financials for multiple entities or business units strongly preferred. Proven track record in financial planning, budgeting, and strategic financial management. Technical Skills Strong expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis. Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Solid grounding in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, and regulatory reporting standards. Leadership & Communication Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, including ownership and operations leaders. Working Environment This is a dynamic, hands-on role in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable in the details — closing the books, reconciling accounts — and at the strategic level, advising ownership on the financial direction of three companies. Attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
