Temp-to-Hire Job Order #: 140752 Position Overview Stand-By Personnel is seeking experienced 3G Vessel Welders to join a growing fabrication team in the Tulsa area. This position focuses on welding pressure vessel components using MIG and Flux Core processes while maintaining high standards for weld quality, material preparation, and safety. Candidates must have at least 1 year of MIG and Flux Core welding experience or hold a welding certification from an accredited trade school. Qualified candidates must successfully complete an open-root 3G weld test with a MIG root and Flux Core fill and cap. Candidates are also required to prepare their own 5/8-inch test plates using a 9-inch grinder. Required Experience & Skills
  • Minimum 1 year of MIG and Flux Core welding experience OR welding certification from an accredited trade school
  • Strong MIG welding skills
  • Strong Flux Core welding skills
  • Ability to successfully complete the required 3G weld test
  • Ability to read and follow welding specifications and blueprints
  • Experience preparing weld joints and materials
  • Ability to safely operate a 9-inch grinder
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Strong attention to weld quality and workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication team
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Strong commitment to workplace and welding safety Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform 3G welding on pressure vessel components
  • Perform MIG root welding according to required procedures
  • Complete Flux Core fill and cap passes
  • Read and follow blueprints and welding specifications
  • Prepare materials and weld joints before fabrication
  • Bevel steel plate according to welding requirements
  • Use a 9-inch grinder for material and joint preparation
  • Position and prepare components for welding
  • Maintain proper welding techniques and parameters
  • Inspect completed welds for visible defects and workmanship concerns
  • Verify completed work meets applicable quality requirements
  • Correct welding or preparation issues when required
  • Safely operate welding machines, grinders, and fabrication equipment
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and production procedures
  • Perform additional vessel welding and fabrication duties as assigned Weld Test Requirements Candidates must successfully complete the following hands-on test:
  • Open-Root 3G Test
  • 5/8-inch Thick Steel Plate
  • Candidate must bevel their own test plates
  • Beveling performed with a 9-inch grinder
  • MIG Root
  • Flux Core Fill & Cap
  • Completed weld must meet required quality standards Candidates should arrive prepared to demonstrate both proper material preparation and production-level welding ability.
Material & Joint Preparation Proper preparation is an important part of this position.

  • Previous pressure vessel welding experience
  • Heavy fabrication experience
  • More than 1 year of MIG and Flux Core experience
  • Previous 3G welding experience
  • Open-root welding experience
  • Accredited welding trade school certification
  • Strong blueprint-reading skills
  • Advanced grinding and joint-preparation experience
  • Experience working with heavy steel plate Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying, positioning, pushing, and pulling
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for welding and grinding
  • Ability to safely operate a 9-inch grinder and other fabrication equipment
  • Comfortable working around steel, welding equipment, grinders, heat, sparks, and industrial machinery
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding fabrication work while wearing required PPE Work Environment
  • Industrial pressure vessel and fabrication shop environment
  • Regular work involving steel plate, welding machines, grinders, and fabrication equipment
  • Hands-on position requiring both material preparation and skilled welding
  • Monday-Friday schedule with specific hours to be provided
