Job Description
Job Summary We're hiring a Controller to lead financial operations across a multi-entity portfolio of resort, hospitality, and real estate businesses in the Mt. Hood region. Mt. Hood Skibowl has a current opening for an accomplished accounting professional to serve as it's Controller for Mt. Hood Skibowl and its group of companies under the brand "Resorts of the Cascades" Resorts of the Cascades' group of companies include Mt. Hood Skibowl, Kah-Nee-Ta, Lake Simtustus, Pelton Park, Mt. Hood Outfitters and includes over 7 restaurants & dining options, property management, outdoor guide expeditions and outfitters as well as Government Camp's finest lodging accommodations. The Controller serves as the financial engine of a multi-entity operating platform, responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information. Essential Functions:
Supervise, support, and develop Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger staff; foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth. Evaluate, design, and improve departmental controls, systems, and procedures to increase accuracy and efficiency. Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and financial forecasting and ensure all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time. Manage the month-end close process; prepare and publish monthly financial statements with budget and variance analysis for executive management. Maintain accounting workpapers and schedules to ensure continuous audit-readiness while maintaining internal control systems and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and regulations using GAAP standards. Cash flow forecasting and weekly meetings with executive management Monitor item costs and allocations, investigate variances, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper cost tracking and recognition. Validate monthly bank account and subledger reconciliations. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to forecast the current fiscal year and develop master budgets for upcoming years. Advise and partner with other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions with financial implications. Serve as subject matter expert for accounting information systems and work closely with the Solutions/IT team on ERP usage, system improvements, implementations, and database management. Coordinate with CFO to provide information for external CPAs for annual financial review, and year end compliance reporting Supporting financial and compliance requests for external stakeholders, including insurance brokers, lenders, auditors and regulators. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance 5-7+ years progressive accounting experience including management of AR/AP staff Strong technical knowledge of accounting operations and GAAP Experience preparing audit schedules and supporting external CPA audits Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)NOTE:
