Position Summary The Controller will lead the day-to-day accounting operations for a growing manufacturing business and serve as a key finance partner to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is responsible for driving a disciplined month-end close process, strengthening internal controls, ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting cost accounting and margin analysis, and providing practical financial insight to help guide business decisions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who can improve processes, develop the accounting team, and bring structure, accountability, and continuous improvement to the finance function. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process on a published calendar, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.
- Prepare and review internal financial reporting packages, including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, working capital, and key operating metrics.
- Own the annual audit process and serve as the primary day-to-day contact for external auditors and related requests.
- Strengthen the internal control environment, including account reconciliations, approval workflows, segregation of duties, documentation standards, and accounting policies.
- Serve as the company's technical accounting resource, including interpretation of U.S. GAAP, accounting policies, capitalization policy, revenue recognition considerations, and complex accounting matters.
- Maintain and improve cost accounting processes, including standard costs, job costing, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and variance reporting.
- Maintain inventory valuation, reserve methodology, standard cost accuracy, and meaningful cost and margin variance analysis.
- Partner with operations, sales, engineering, service, and leadership teams to provide financial insight that supports pricing, profitability, working capital, and operational decision-making.
- Own working capital reporting and analysis, including accounts receivable, inventory, accounts payable, customer credit exposure, and cash conversion trends.
- Oversee credit management processes in partnership with sales and operations, including customer credit review, collections discipline, and risk mitigation.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, including balance sheet forecasting, working capital projections, debt, capital expenditures, variance analysis, and development of actionable recommendations.
- Govern ERP data integrity, master data governance, automation, reporting logic, and RPA-enabled workflows to ensure accuracy, control, and appropriate oversight.
- Manage debt compliance reporting, lender reporting requirements, and other recurring financial reporting obligations.
- Lead, coach, and develop members of the accounting team while promoting accountability, accuracy, and collaboration.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including prior supervisory responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and month-end close ownership.
- Experience with debt compliance, lender reporting, audit support, and recurring financial reporting requirements.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operational leaders and translate financial information into practical business insight.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, improve processes, and operate effectively in a hands-on environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA and/or MBA preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing, job-cost, project-based, or custom equipment environment.
- Prior ERP implementation, optimization, reporting, or automation experience.
- Public accounting, audit, transaction, or private-equity-backed company experience.
- Experience building scalable accounting processes in a growing or changing organization. Core Competencies

Pay:
$105,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
