Type:

full-time Job Summary The National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) is seeking an experienced Controller. This role has oversight of all accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll and internal controls. The Controller will manage accounting activities in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and will report directly to the Vice President for Finance/CFO.

Hybrid Work Schedule:

Two days remote (Monday & Friday) and three days onsite work (Tuesday through Thursday).

Responsibilities:

Maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger, balance sheet account reconciliations, billing, credit and collections, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, accounts payable and payroll. Ensure compliance of industry best practices for accounting policies. Oversee division staff to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function; supervise and lead accounting and finance staff. Month-end close process and related journal entries along with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements, presentations and analysis. Manage and act as liaison with external auditors for year-end audits (financial and retirement plan) and tax returns preparation. Responsible for day-to-day interactions with Investment Advisor as well as coordinating quarterly reporting to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. Assist VP of Finance/CFO in annual budgeting process - analysis of financial results, develop strategic recommendations. Assist with cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed. Other duties as requested by the supervisor or senior leadership staff

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Masters in Accounting (MSA) preferred CPA required 10+ years or progressive work experience in accounting, 5+ years of management experience Strong technical skills with an emphasis on Excel and accounting software systems (Sage & Paylocity preferred) Federal and State non-profit tax and filing requirements Math, communications, computer and analytical skills Strong written and oral communication skills
