Role Summary (WORK

FROM HOME 3 DAYS/WEEK

) The Controller is a senior finance leadership role responsible for the full spectrum of financial accounting operations. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this individual will own the day-to-day accounting function - including month-end close, financial reporting, compliance, and audit management - while also serving as a key partner to the executive team and investors. The ideal candidate brings deep technical accounting expertise, strong operational instincts, and the ability to build and tighten processes in a fast-moving, project-based environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Own all aspects of financial accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, producing financial statements in accordance with

U.S. GAAP.

Manage revenue recognition in line with ASC 606, with particular attention to percentage-of-completion, milestone billing, and hybrid engineering/software contract structures. Develop, implement, and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure reporting integrity. Lead the external audit process, acting as the primary contact for auditors and managing all deliverables. Drive cash flow forecasting, liquidity monitoring, and working capital management. Support the annual budgeting process and deliver regular forecasts and variance analysis to leadership. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including tax filings. Provide financial analysis to support business decisions, strategic initiatives, and board/investor reporting. Identify and implement process improvements to shorten close timelines and strengthen financial controls. Collaborate with department leaders to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency. Develop and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. CPA required 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrable progression toward a Controller-level role. Strong command of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards. Proven track record managing audits, financial statements, and internal controls. Experience owning the full month-end close cycle with a track record of shortening timelines and improving accuracy. Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel modeling. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and investors. Preferred Background & Ideal Profile While not all of the following are mandatory, candidates who bring a combination of these attributes will be particularly competitive: Prior experience as a Controller at a $15M-$100M company, or a strong Assistant Controller ready to step up. Background in contract or project-based accounting, including percentage-of-completion methodology. Exposure to ERP or accounting system implementation or optimization projects. Experience with NetSuite and QuickBooks is preferred Demonstrated ability to manage lean teams and build or tighten processes from the ground up.
