The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial modeling, prior FP&A or financing experience, and experience developing and presenting executive-level financial proposals. The Director of Finance role is a hybrid/onsite position with 4 days in office. This is a direct hire position. Director of Finance Responsibilities Lead the design and development of the company's Digital Energy Intelligence Platform. Develop integrated financial models that combine energy modeling, utility savings, HVAC capital avoidance, tax credits, incentives, accelerated depreciation, carbon value, financing, and overall project economics. Build sophisticated investment analyses, including ROI, IRR, NPV, payback period, cash flow projections, and property value enhancement. Develop executive-quality investment proposals that support customer purchasing decisions and third-party financing opportunities. Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, infrastructure investors, ESCOs, utilities, and external accounting and advisory firms. Partner with Engineering, Sales, Product Marketing, Finance, and Accounting teams to translate technical building performance into investment-grade financial analyses. Expand the organization's capabilities related to incentives, tax policy, carbon markets, and innovative project financing strategies. Develop standardized financial models, proposal templates, and customer-facing investment presentations that clearly communicate the company's economic value proposition. Train and support commercial teams on energy economics, financial modeling, financing structures, incentives, and investment analysis to improve customer engagement and proposal conversion. Design and implement a streamlined project qualification model that quickly identifies high-value retrofit opportunities based on energy savings, financial return, and strategic fit. Continuously improve financial models, proposal content, and customer decision-support tools based on market feedback and project outcomes. Partner with the Controller to develop pricing methodologies that leverage projected energy savings to optimize gross margin and EBIT. Evaluate multiple financial scenarios and provide strategic recommendations that support business growth and customer investment decisions. Support strategic planning initiatives through advanced financial analysis and long-range forecasting. Director of Finance Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus. Strong background in financial modeling, including the development of complex financial models from the ground up. Prior experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, project finance, or financing. Experience developing and presenting executive-level investment proposals and business cases. Broad finance experience across accounting, FP&A, financial analysis, and strategic modeling. Proven ability to analyze multiple business scenarios and provide data-driven recommendations. Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing. Strong understanding of valuation techniques, investment analysis, and capital planning; valuation experience is a plus. Experience working with financial institutions, lenders, infrastructure investors, or financing organizations is highly desirable. Experience analyzing energy costs, energy savings, or energy efficiency projects is a strong plus. Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills with the ability to build dynamic forecasting and investment models. Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Self-motivated, strategic thinker with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
